Join the Summer Reads Book Club
Join Learning and Organizational Development for Summer Reads, a virtual book club for NC State staff and faculty.
The book club will meet three times this summer and discuss a different book each time. You can register to participate in as many book club discussions as you wish. Participants must purchase or borrow the books and read them before the book club meets.
The club will meet:
- Friday, June 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. to discuss Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know. Author Adam Grant investigates the art of rethinking views that no longer serving us well in his bestselling book.
- Tuesday, July 30, from noon to 1 p.m. to discuss Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. Duckworth writes about what she believes is the secret to success: grit, a combination of passion and perseverance.
- Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 2 to 3 p.m. to discuss Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. Essentialism is a must-read for anyone who has ever felt overworked, unproductive, overcommitted or like others are hijacking their time. The book is a guide for how to focus on what matters the most.
