Wellness Survey Results Will Help Shape Future of Wellness

NC State employees walk on treadmills at the Health and Wellness Center.

In March, HR Wellness sent out its first wellness survey in an effort to learn what employees think about employee wellness initiatives at NC State and what programs it should consider offering. The 2025 Wellness Engagement and Satisfaction Survey went to 1,164 employees who registered and participated in wellness programs or who only registered for them. The participants offered a powerful glimpse into how our community engages with wellness and where we can grow together.

What HR Wellness Learned: Wellness Builds Community

With a 39% response rate, the survey revealed that wellness programming is making a meaningful impact. Employees who participated in wellness activities over the past year reported improvements in feeling a sense of community and improved mental and physical health and stress management. In fact, 99% of participants said they would recommend university wellness programs to a colleague. With programs like Employee Wellness Wednesdays and Wellness Champions, these initiatives are improving individual well-being and strengthening the social fabric of our campus.

Looking Ahead: More Wellness Programs

The efforts of HR Wellness are aligned with Goal 4 of the Wolfpack 2030 Strategic Plan: championing a culture of care, belonging and well-being. The survey results show employees want more flexible, inclusive and accessible wellness opportunities. As a result, HR Wellness plans to expand its offerings for the 2025-26 academic year by offering new fitness classes, app-based challenges and enhanced programming that will reach employees on and off campus and online.
