Register for Tours of Hunt Library, the Utility Plant and North Campus

NC State employees will see the bookBot in action if they go on a tour of the James B. Hunt Library on Centennial Campus on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The Onboarding Center hosts free on-campus tours so employees can learn about campus landmarks and the history of NC State. Whether you’re a new employee or a longtime member of the Pack, please consider registering for one or more of the tours, and encourage your colleagues to do the same.

Hunt Library Tour

Come tour the James B. Hunt Library at 1070 Partners Way on Centennial Campus on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hunt Library ranks as one of the most amazing college libraries in the United States. During the tour, you’ll learn about its world-class spaces and see the bookBot in action. Participants will also learn about the resources and services the Libraries offers.

Utility Plant Tour

NC State Facilities Division staff will take you behind the scenes at the Centennial Campus Utility Plant at 830 Main Campus Drive on Friday, Dec. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. You will learn how NC State generates energy on-site and reduces energy costs by using a thermal energy storage tank and cogeneration technology.

Space on the tour is limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible. The tour group will meet at the front door of the plant, which faces Main Campus Drive.

North Campus Tour

The Onboarding Center will host walking tours of NC State’s North Campus on April 11 and 12.

Join the Onboarding Center for a walking tour of North Campus on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

North Campus, which is sometimes referred to as “original campus,” includes many of the first academic buildings built at NC State. That part of campus is north of the railroad tracks that run along Yarbrough Drive.

The 1.5-mile walking tour will begin outside Talley Student Union in front of the Starbucks on Cates Avenue. The tour will highlight some of NC State’s history and iconic landmarks, including Reynolds Coliseum; University Plaza, which is known as the Brickyard; and the Court of North Carolina.

Remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes on the tour.
