  • In my research at NC State, I work with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to understand how they can access the landscapes they value under changing environmental and social conditions.
  • North Carolina is my home state, but I’ve also lived in the Northeast and the Deep South.
  • My Ph.D. work at Northeastern University was about improving science by using the knowledge of local experts (e.g., fishermen, landowners and community-based organizers).
  • I lived and worked on the North Carolina coast for a year, and I miss how much time I spent on the water.
  • Baking sourdough bread is my new obsession. I love how no two loaves are the same.
