- I have lived in five states: Wisconsin, North Carolina, Colorado, Alaska and South Carolina.
- I served in the United States Air Force.
- I am an amateur outdoor photographer. I enjoy photographing fauna and flora.
- I am the executive director of two nonprofits: Support US Armed Forces and Turkeys for Tomorrow North Carolina.
- I love spending time with my family. My daughter and son-in-law are NC State grads, and my grandson is an NC State fan.
