  • I met my husband at an American Phytopathological Society Conference in Texas when we were both graduate students. He was a student in Minnesota, and I was a student in South Carolina. Our research brought us together.
  • My first job with NC State was as an undergraduate intern catching and tagging butterflies for Nick Haddad’s Savannah River Site Corridor Project.
  • I love to dance. I find it to be a wonderful form of expression and a great way to relieve stress. You will find me dancing while cooking, listening to music in my car and at every wedding reception.
  • My family and I are avid hikers. Living in western North Carolina allows us access to numerous waterfalls. To date, we have explored 97 waterfalls in our area.
  • I really enjoy a good true crime podcast and any historical fiction novel about royalty.
