I started my career as editor of a weekly newspaper called The Declaration, which was based in Independence, Virginia. (I love a good pun!)
I’ve married the same person twice! My wife, Katie, and I had a small ceremony with no reception in 2020, and we renewed our vows in June 2022 and had the wedding we originally planned.
I played trumpet from sixth grade all through college. As part of my college’s trumpet ensemble, I traveled to China, where we performed in a concert hall for over 40,000 people.
I graduated from Emory & Henry College, a small liberal arts school in southwestern Virginia. In steep contrast to NC State, Emory & Henry’s total student population was about 1,000 when I was there.
Outside of work, I am a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in north Raleigh, where I recently became a deacon and started managing the church’s social media.
