Wellness Day: Taking Care of Our Pack

Dear NC State Colleagues,

These are challenging times for many in our Wolfpack community. As you know, Chancellor Randy Woodson has designated Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, as a Wellness Day. No classes will be held, and instructors are strongly encouraged to avoid any tests or deadlines on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4.

Campus will remain open, as it’s vital for us to continue providing services and support for students, faculty and staff. We appreciate all of the work you do to keep our campus operations running and for providing the critical services our community needs.

Supervisors and managers are encouraged to allow employees to attend Red and White Week festivities in order to unplug and reconnect with the campus community. Employees are encouraged to attend the Chancellor’s Fall Address at 1 p.m. at the Talley Student Union lobby on Monday, Oct. 31, and Red and White Fest, our employee appreciation event on Miller Fields, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Faculty and staff can also take advantage of some Wellness Day activities on Thursday, Nov. 3. More information about the day’s schedule will be shared early next week.

Employees are always encouraged to take advantage of the resources that are available through our Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP), Mental Health First Aid training offerings, and the variety of offerings made available through Wolfpack Wellness and Wellness and Recreation’s Employee Wellness Programs

We encourage everyone to practice self-care during this time and every day. Whether that means taking a short walk to clear your head or taking a moment to check in with family, friends and colleagues, do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Each of us also plays a role in the health and well-being of other members of our community. Please continue to demonstrate compassion for your students and colleagues.

As Chancellor Woodson noted in his Oct. 25 communication, we are committed to understanding the needs of our community and taking action where needed to support you, and all members of our Wolfpack. Thank you for your work and dedication in support of all members of our NC State community, especially during this difficult time for our students and those who work closely with them.

Sincerely,

Tim Danielson

Associate Vice Chancellor, Human Resources
