I was born and raised on the small island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
I started college at the age of 16 and graduated at 20.
I was appointed to past jobs by three governors and two mayors. Of the three governors, one was a vice presidential candidate in 2016, and two are current members of Congress. I now serve under the best chancellor in the UNC System!
I love to teach, and I have taught courses at the graduate, undergraduate and professional levels. Bearing witness to learning epiphanies and growth in others brings me great satisfaction.
We have two pets: a cockatiel, age 11 (we think), who whistles at the ladies (or anything that moves), and a hamster who works out every night at 11 p.m.
