  • Due to school redistricting in Wake County and living in another state before moving to Raleigh, I attended nine schools in 12 years. When I began high school in Wake County, I was determined not to switch schools again. The way I found that I could finally plant my roots, stay at the same high school and graduate from that school was by becoming a school bus driver at age 16. That provided me with transportation to school and consistency.
  • I tried my hand at a couple of businesses in my younger days: a desktop design/publishing business and a wardrobe consulting business. My experiences earned me an eight-year tenure on the Knightdale Chamber Board of Directors.
  • I played in the SAS Championship Pro-Am, a golf tournament, back in the early 2000s. I was paired with pro golfer Miller Barber from the PGA Senior Tour. He died in 2013.
  • I have an affinity for weather and consider myself an amateur storm chaser. All my relatives call me for weather updates. I think I missed my calling.
  • I enjoy fast cars. Although some would refer to me as a Grandma, I prefer “GranDiva.”
