Ready To Retire? Sign Up for the Retirement Workshop

University Human Resources will host a Ready To Retire workshop on Aug. 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Talley Student Union State Ballroom. A livestream option will be available for those unable to attend in person, but please note priority during the Q&A sessions will be given to those attending in person.

Ready To Retire prepares NC State employees for the retirement process. All employees are welcome to attend the workshop, but employees considering retiring in the next five to seven years are strongly encouraged to attend.

You can pose any retirement-related questions to retirement experts before the start of the workshop. From noon to 1 p.m., those experts will be available outside the ballroom as well as during breaks. Other vendors also will be present to answer questions, including PNC Bank, University Temporary Services and UHR wellness.

You must complete the registration form in REPORTER to attend the workshop in person or watch the livestream. The in-person portion of the workshop will be limited to the first 300 employees to register.

Representatives from the Social Security Administration, the State Health Plan, TIAA, Fidelity, Empower (formerly Prudential) and the UHR benefits team will present during the workshop. The workshop will have sessions on the following topics:

  • Social Security and retirement benefits.
  • Retiree health insurance options.
  • The Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System.
  • The University of North Carolina Optional Retirement Program.

Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions after each workshop session and before the workshop ends. The benefits team will follow up with participants whose questions are not answered.
