Take the Passionate Pack Challenge

University Human Resources is challenging employees to spend a cumulative total of three hours in June pursuing a personal passion or purpose.

Kelly Vance, the wellness, child care and perks coordinator in University Human Resources, has a challenge for NC State employees: During the month of June, spend a cumulative total of three hours pursuing a personal passion or purpose.

Staff and faculty can accept Vance’s challenge by:

  • Registering to participate in an initiative Vance has dubbed A Passionate Pack, and committing to pursue a passion or purpose. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. June 9.
  • Completing this form and sharing details of your experience pursuing your passion or purpose. You can include a picture of you tackling your passion or purpose. The form completion deadline is 5 p.m. July 1. Participants who complete the form will be eligible to win a prize. Five winners will be selected and featured in this newsletter in July.

“Purpose” is one of NC State’s six elements of wellness. Vance, UHR’s wellness, child care and perks coordinator, said she hopes participants learn how pursuing a personal passion or purpose can contribute to their overall well-being.

“We often do activities because we have to or because others want us to,” she said. “When you pursue something that is really meaningful to you, it has a bigger impact on you.”

Participants can decide what passion or purpose they want to pursue. Your options are virtually endless and can include such activities as playing music, learning to dance, volunteering with a charitable organization, swimming, rock climbing and hiking.

“The only requirement for this is to have a lot of fun,” Vance said. “It’s really that simple. It’s almost summer, so it’s a great time to do this.”
