Register To Receive Lunch and a Gift on State Employee Appreciation Day

Employee Appreciation

NC State will celebrate State Employee Appreciation Day on May 5 by inviting employees to drive by Reynolds Coliseum and pick up a boxed lunch and gift.

The drive-by event is one of several events the university is planning to coincide with State Employee Recognition Week on May 2-8 and State Employee Appreciation Day.

“We know that the pandemic has taken a collective toll on our employees, but they continue to persevere and go above and beyond what’s expected of them,” said Britt Hurst, wellness and recognition program manager in University Human Resources. “We thought it was important to celebrate along with the rest of the state that week and show how much we appreciate the hard work our employees have done the past year.”

UHR employees will stand along the Dunn Avenue loop on May 5 and hand employees their special lunch and gift as they drive by in their vehicles. Chancellor Randy Woodson and members of his cabinet plan to help hand out lunches to employees. If you would like to pick up lunch, please register.

Employees are encouraged to wear NC State gear that day and decorate their cars to show how proud they are to be members of the Wolfpack.

UHR will announce details about other events being planned for that week soon, including an all-day de-stress event at the Wellness and Recreation Center. Employees will be able to livestream the de-stress event or attend it in person.

The first 55 people to arrive at the Wellness and Recreation Center for the event will receive NC State-branded yoga mats. Prizes also will be available for those who choose to view the livestream.

Hurst said UHR is encouraging offices, departments, units and divisions to host events for their employees and send them notes of appreciation during State Employee Recognition Week. She said front-line supervisors, in particular, should take a moment during the week to recognize their employees.

“I think it’s vitally important for supervisors and managers to encourage their employees and recognize them,” Hurst said. “They’re the ones seeing them day in and day out, and they know about the great work that our employees are performing. I think receiving timely recognition from supervisors and ongoing recognition make all the difference.”
