- I’m a husband and father of two girls — #GirlDad. I enjoy coaching both of them in softball and basketball.
- I’ve visited 87 of the 100 counties in North Carolina, and I hope to visit the remaining 13 counties before the end of the year.
- I currently serve on a number of boards, including the North Carolina Friends of the State Parks, the East Carolina University Alumni Association, the NC Institute of Public Leadership and a few local advisory boards.

- I’ve served as a law enforcement officer both full-time and reserve for over 14 years, and I love riding motorcycles in my free time.
