Save the Date: Annual Enrollment Set for Oct. 11-29

Annual Benefits Enrollment

The annual enrollment period for University of North Carolina System institutions is scheduled for Oct. 11-29.

This enrollment period is the time set aside for employees to make benefit selections. University Human Resources encourages you to mark this important period on your calendar as a reminder, so you’ll be prepared to enroll or reenroll in the benefits you want. The selections you make during the annual enrollment period will take effect in 2022.

UHR will provide more information about annual enrollment as it gets closer.

Reduce Your Health Plan Premium

If you are a tobacco user and want to reduce your health plan premium by $60 a month in 2022, you don’t have to wait until annual enrollment. You can take action now.

Tobacco users can attend a tobacco cessation counseling session at a CVS MinuteClinic or their primary care provider’s office for free to earn a lower premium in 2022. You have until Nov. 30, 2021, to take action. If you combine your tobacco cessation visit with another service, you may have to pay a copay.

After you visit a CVS MinuteClinic or a primary care provider for your tobacco cessation session, the provider will submit a claim on your behalf. To ensure you receive credit for your visit, upload your office visit summary to the “Document Center” in eBenefits, the State Health Plan’s enrollment system. Be sure to request a copy of your summary during your visit.

If you are not a tobacco user, you will simply attest to that online during the annual enrollment process. This step is critical to ensure you receive a lower premium in 2022.
