A Global Mission: Celebrate World Health Day

Two men going on a walk
Going on a walk is one way to celebrate World Health Day.

HR Wellness wants to encourage the NC State community to celebrate World Health Day, an annual observance held each April 7 to recognize the founding of the World Health Organization and highlight a health topic.

The World Health Organization champions all aspects of health — physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. HR Wellness has curated some resources to help you prioritize well-being on World Health Day and beyond.

Ways You Can Celebrate World Health Day

  • Support the well-being of your community by scheduling an appointment to donate blood. The Blood Connection’s blood mobile will be at The Oval on April 7 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. Donors will receive a $40 gift card.
  • Take charge of your well-being by going on a walk with the Faculty and Staff Walking Club, taking a free yoga class or participating in other wellness-related events on campus April 7.

More Resources To Engage Every Dimension of Your Health

Wellness is not limited to completing your daily workouts. It’s about cultivating sustainable habits that keep you active and energized throughout your workday and beyond. To help build these habits, check out the following NC State resources.

  • HR Wellness and NC State Wellness and Recreation offer free fitness classes.
  • Flourish Fridays are free instructor-led virtual classes that occur once or twice a month, offering a fun mix of activities to get you moving and feeling great. The last class this semester will be a chair pilates class on Friday, April 17, from 12:05 to 12:25 p.m. You must complete this registration form and waiver to participate.
  • Wellness and Recreation hosts wellness challenges for NC State community members who want to make lifestyle changes.
  • The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) provides support for personal and work-related challenges at no cost to you and your household family members. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, grief or stress, consider taking advantage of FASAP’s vast resources.

NC State’s Wellness Champions program offers the opportunity to connect with a network of staff and faculty members passionate about wellness. Wellness champions promote universitywide wellness initiatives and foster an environment of wellness in their colleges, units and departments by hosting activities that promote holistic health and well-being.
