Let’s Celebrate ‘Our Extraordinary Pack’ During Employee Appreciation Week

University Human Resources is excited to announce plans for Our Extraordinary Pack Employee Appreciation Week, which will be held May 7-13.

Our Extraordinary Pack Employee Appreciation Week

UHR has decided to change how the university conducts its annual spring celebration of its employees. Traditionally, UHR hosts a single employee appreciation event in the spring, but this year we’ve planned a weeklong celebration of our extraordinary Pack. We’ve designated a theme for each weekday during Employee Appreciation Week. Throughout that week, we’ll publicize resources and virtual and in-person activities, tours and webinars offered by UHR, Wellness and Recreation, the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, Campus Enterprises, the Crafts Center and other NC State units. The theme for each weekday and a description for each day are listed below.

We encourage colleges, divisions, departments and work teams to plan their own creative and fun ways to celebrate our Pack and promote wellness activities during Employee Appreciation Week. NC State can’t achieve its mission without its dedicated employees. Activities and words of appreciation can be powerful ways to demonstrate gratitude and motivate teams to achieve continued excellence. Efforts like personal thank-you notes and team-building activities are proven to boost morale and help colleagues gain a greater appreciation for each other’s contributions.

NC State’s Employee Appreciation Week will coincide with State Employee Recognition Week, which will be held May 7-13, and State Employee Appreciation Day, which will be recognized May 10.

Themed Days and Activities During Employee Appreciation Week

Below are the themed days for Employee Appreciation Week. To see a full list of events for each day and resources, click the theme for that day. Please note that some activities require registration.

  • Mindful Monday: Start the week by prioritizing your mental health and well-being. A stress-reduction webinar, yoga sessions, a Relaxation Station, resources for mindfulness strategies and much more will be available.
  • Thankful Tuesday: Share your appreciation and gratitude with members of the Pack who positively affect your work day. Send Paws and Say Thanks cards to colleagues, and look at the Recognition Toolbox on the UHR website to learn about other appreciation activities, strategies and practices.
  • Wolfpack Wednesday: Celebrate NC State by connecting with people, places and programs to foster Wolfpack spirit and pride. The Memorial Belltower, the Gregg Museum and the Wellness and Recreation Center are just a few places employees can explore and tour.
  • Team-Building Thursday: Participate in a scheduled team-building activity with your Wolfpack or plan your own activity. Watch a live cooking demonstration that will take place at Carmichael Gymnasium, come to Miller Fields for WellRec Recess and play games, tour the Crafts Center and/or participate in a virtual Kahoot! trivia game.
  • Funday Friday: Finish the week by planning fun ways to appreciate your Pack. Create fun awards for individuals and/or teams that use Pack-related superlatives. Celebrate with your Pack by getting a meal together. Here are some food options:
    • Dine at an off-campus restaurant or an on-campus dining hall.
    • Enjoy a potluck or picnic with your Pack.
    • Host a healthy snack break.
    • Get Howling Cow ice cream together at the NC State Dairy Research and Training Farm.
    • Host a virtual lunch hour.
    • Schedule an in-person or virtual coffee chat.

Keep dietary and environmental restrictions in mind so everyone can participate.
