Things You’ll Need to Know for Annual Enrollment

Annual Benefits Enrollment

University Human Resources wants to ensure that employees can make informed choices about their benefits during annual enrollment, which will take place Oct. 11-29. We want to prepare you for that 18-day period by sharing some preliminary information with you now, so you’ll be ready to make benefit selections for you and your family in October. To start getting ready, carefully read the information below. Also, be sure to read our Howl You Know newsletter next month, when we’ll share more information about annual enrollment.

State Health Plan

If there are any changes to the cost of premiums or copays related to the State Health Plan, UHR will communicate those changes to employees when that information becomes available.

Tobacco Cessation

Tobacco and nontobacco users can reduce their health plan premium by $60 a month in 2022. To learn how to reduce your premium, read this story in Howl You Know.

Dental Plans

Employees enrolled in MetLife’s dental plan options received a discount on their premiums in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. MetLife will discontinue discounting those plans at the end of this year.

For the “Classic” and “Low” dental options in 2022, MetLife will restore the monthly premiums for those options to the rates enrollees paid in 2020.

MetLife will implement a rate hike for the “High” option plans in 2022. As a result, those rates will be higher than they were in 2020 and 2021.

Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts

If money was left in your health or dependent care flexible spending accounts at the end of 2020, it rolled over for use in 2021. Money remaining in those accounts at the end of this year will roll over for use in 2022.

NCFlex Webinars

Employees can learn more about the NCFlex dental plan offered through MetLife by registering for a webinar scheduled for noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24. You will learn about three dental plan options, the difference between in-network and out-of-network providers and how to look up claims status.

Legal Plans

The Hyatt Legal Plans is now known as MetLife Legal Plans.

Annual Enrollment Webpage

The UHR benefits team is currently gathering comprehensive information to post on this year’s annual enrollment webpage. The team will inform employees when the page is complete and has been launched.

UHR plans to host annual enrollment information sessions via Zoom. When dates and times for those sessions become available, the benefits team will post them on the webpage.
