NC State Offers Employee Travel Resources

Travel Resources

NC State will be closed on the following dates: Nov. 28-29, Dec. 23-27 and Jan. 1.

You’ve probably already made travel plans for those times or are at least thinking about traveling. If so, consider taking advantage of these employee travel resources:

WolfPerks

NC State employees are eligible for a discount of up to 30% at Great Wolf Lodge. Employees also can save $10 on a AAA membership.

Travel Clinic

NC State’s Travel Clinic provides information, recommendations, medications and vaccinations to students, staff and faculty planning to travel internationally.

To take advantage of the clinic, you must complete a registration form and pay a $75 fee. The fee is lower than what most local providers charge. The clinic charges additional fees for medications and vaccinations.

The Travel Clinic recommends completing the registration form several weeks before you plan to travel. Most vaccines take 10-30 days to become effective.

The clinic is located at the Student Health Center.

Passport Services

The Passport Services office helps NC State employees and students, and residents of the Triangle area, submit passport applications.

The office helps process passport applications for first-time adult applicants, children and naturalized citizens.

Paula Cook, Passport Services manager, said people who are planning to travel abroad during the holiday season and who need a passport should visit Passport Services as soon as possible. She said applicants planning to travel during the holidays also will likely have to request expedited service, which incurs an additional fee.

“If they have spring travel plans, now is also the time,” Cook said. “It gets very busy in the spring, not just at NC State, but nationwide. This is the perfect time for folks to come in and get their passport.”

If you would like the office’s help with obtaining a passport, remember the following:

  • The office requires passport applicants to make an appointment.
  • Complete a passport form prior to visiting the office. If you need help with the form, the office will assist you.
  • Review the costs associated with applying for a passport before visiting the office. Applicants must pay U.S. Department of State fees with a check or money order.
  • The office is located in room 321 of Witherspoon Student Center, 2810 Cates Ave., Raleigh.
